Brecknell
Willis offer complete solutions for low level current collectors which
are based on complete systems know-how, engineering expertise and extensive
experience.
Advantages
Higher traction efficiency
Reduced maintenance
Reduced arc damage at the working interface

Maximum life of wearing components on both sides of the working interface
(conductor rail and shoe)
Reduced electrical interference to auxiliary signalling
and communications equipment.
Selection of the right shoegear/rail combination plays an important
part in the achievement of good current collection. In general, the
minimum head mass, effective dynamic mass and friction to assure optimum
performance in all applications:-
Retraction
It is often a requirement to be able to retract the collector
clear of conductor rails, to allow emergency isolation or through running
into an area of overhead power supplies. Systems may be mechanical (by
rope or lever), electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic and there are many
design options available.
